Cookbook for VMworld 2015 Barcelona

It won‘t be long now until thousands of IT professionals will arrive in Barcelona for VMworld 2015.

The theme of the show this year is “Ready for Any” – here is what VMware means to say:

Ready with our One Cloud, Any Application, Any Device™ architecture, which empowers your organization to develop, deploy, and consume all applications, quickly and securely. Ready for a unified hybrid cloud that lets you innovate like a startup and execute like an enterprise. Ready to transform business processes and operations with business mobility.

VMworld Europe will take place for the fourth time in a row in Barcelona. If you have never been in this city before you should make yourself familiar with the “Transportation at VMworld“. In this post you find useful  information about the metro, the shuttle service and more.

Airport shuttle hours (airport BCN to Venue):

  • Sunday 11 October 16.00 – 20.00
  • Monday 12 October 10.00 – 20.00
  • Thursday 15 October 12.00 – 18.00

Schedule Builder:

It is necessary to pre-register for the sessions you want to attend during VMworld. The earlier you do this, the better the chance you have a fix place. As some breakout sessions fill up very quick you should not hesitate to build your schedule now: Schedule Builder

Mobile App:

Download the VMworld 2015 App (I will add the link as soon as it is available) to your mobile device. This app is a good way to stay connected and up to date on what is happening. You find your schedule with the pre-registered sessions there, as well as event maps, information about the speakers and vendors, sweepstakes and competitions. Some well visited sessions will be repeated at short notice – this information can be found in the app, too!

Social Media/Twitter:

If you do not have a Twitter account till now,  you should change this before you are going to VMworld. Twitter will help you to stay up to date about gatherings, sessions, parties and other activities taking place during the show. It will also help you to get in touch with other IT professionals, bloggers and vendor experts very easy.

VMworld 2015 Bloggers:

A lot of bloggers are on site and will write about VMworld on their blogs. You can find these blog posts in the Planet v12n stream or you take a look at this list with the official VMworld 2015 bloggers.

I am at VMworld Barcelona this year again. So check back to my blog from time to time and read about the show and/or follow me at Twitter: Follow @lessi001

Do not forget the parties and gatherings:

During VMworld a lot of parties, gatherings and activities are taking place. For some of them you should register as soon as possible as seats will fill up quick.

You can find a list with all the parties here: VMworld 2015 Barcelona – all parties, gatherings, events and activities

Please leave a comment if you know about a vendor party not listed – I will add it asap.

Networking:

The greatest benefit from attending VMworld is the possiblity to get in touch with other IT professionals, vendors and VMware experts face to face. During the conference there are a lot of possibilities to meet old friends and make new acquaintances:

Welcome Reception:

Enjoy some food and drinks in the Solutions Exchange and meet vendors, partners and attendees. Welcome Reception will take place Tuesday, 13 October from 17:30 – 19:30 in the Solutions Exchange.

Hall Crawl:

Enjoy food and drinks provided by sponsoring companies and take advantage of additional networking time with your colleagues.
Wednesday, 14 October 17:00 – 19:00 | Solutions Exchange

VMworld Party:

This is the official VMworld Party: Wednesday, 14 October 19:00 – 22:00 | Gran Fira, Hall 6
It is open for all full conference pass attendees – do not forget to bring your badge!

Hang Space:

This is one of my favourite spots at the venue. Go there to make a break, charge your phone or if you have some time left between your sessions. Whenever you visit the Hang Space you will meet and get in touch very easy other attendees, bloggers and vendor experts.
