For some years now I am putting together the Party Lists for #VMworld US and Europe. On these lists you can find all the parties, events and gatherings that are taking place during the conferences.
Embarrassingly, these posts have more views than some of my technical ones… But this is another story – maybe I should change my focus 🙂
However, whether you take a look at the list for US or for Europe – there are really many events taking place. And as VMworld is all about networking I recommend you to not only plan your schedule for the conference days. It is at least equally important to plan your evenings. As places for the events are filling up quickly take care to register early enough. The list will help you.
Maybe you wonder why I used the word “campfires” in the post title?
Using this synonym goes back to a quote of John Troyer (Techreckoning.com | @jtroyer) that I liked very much (I think it was in a blog post?). Simply said, it’s about the idea to avoid the loud and big parties and visit the smaller gatherings instead.
They do maybe not offer famous rock bands and opulent buffets, but they “bring back the spirit of former VMworlds” (not sure how to express it better). At that time, the conferences were less frequented and so were the parties. They offered better possibilities for good conversations and were more familiar.
So when you plan your evenings: consider, if it makes maybe a sense for you to skip one of the big parties and attend one of these campfires instead.
But back to the list: I need your help to fill it with events
