We started our day at 6:45 in the morning for “Project: #vBreakfast”. A mission that had some initial difficulties last year (only one guest came in 2014).
Nevertheless we were motivated and there was a good chance to double visitor counts in 2015 🙂 The easiest way to document our mission of this early morning is with Twitter – so let me show you some tweets:

In the end more than twenty people started their day with us in Restaurant La Vid. Very much to the annoyance of the waiter there, who prefers calm morning shifts without customers 🙂
After the great start with #vBreakfast it was time to head to the venue for the General Session.
Fortunately we found a seat in the press area and so I was able to watch the official start of VMworld 2015 with some fellow bloggers like Vladan and Fred Hofer.
General Session is already available on YouTube – so if you are interested, watch it out here: VMworld 2015 Europe General Session – Tuesday, 13 October:
To give you an overview about the content of GS – here a short listing of some highlights:
- vRealize Automation 7
- VMware Photon OS
- vSphere Integrated Containers
- vCloud NFV platform
The next hours passed quickly – most of them I’ve spent in the Hang Space or the VMUG Lounge, but of course I attended some sessions, too.
At 13:00 o’clock I had the chance to join the VMUG VMworld Lab Tour to sneak a peek behind the scenes of Hands-on-Labs. If you are interested you can read more about this in my blog post VMworld Lab Tour.
After the Lab Tour I spent my time in Hang Space again and of course in Solution Exchange. Next highlight of this evening was the “Welcome Reception” taking place in Solution Exchange.
This event is a great possibility to meet and talk to vendor experts and attendees while having a beer and enjoying some food.
In the evening the “Austrian vMafia” decided to cancel Veeam Party.
Even though Veeam has one of the most famous and best visited parties during VMworld we had the desire to enjoy a relaxed dinner away from the crowds.
So the Austrian vMafia (@rpartmann, @Fred_vBrain, @lessi001, @proprenp, @olqs_de) spent a nice evening at La Rambla together with Abdullah who joined us.
