Some days ago I wrote a blog post entitled “Is your website or blog mobile friendly?“. The reason for this post was that I accidentally found Google’s mobile-friendly test in the webmaster tool collection. As you can read in the post, the result for Running-System.com was disastrous…
Well, I checked my possibilities to improve the situation – and unfortunately the only long-term chance was to change to a new WordPress theme. This is a lot of work (think about special wordpress settings, plugins, ad the ads, find a design and so on…) but during the holidays I found some hours for this challenge.
And now here it is – Running-System.com with a new theme! Of course I tried the mobile-friendly test again – and this time the blog passed the check:
The name of the old theme was Arjuna X and I liked it very much. But it was not responsive and a lot of workarounds were necessary to keep it running.
My new theme is called ForeverWoods and I invested some Euros for the premium edition. The man behind this theme is Tomas Toman, a freelance webdesigner from the Czech Republic.
The theme has some advantages:
- it is responsive
- 7 pre-defined color schemes make it easier to change the design
- Related posts box (one plugin less)
- Social Media widgets (another plugin less)
- a really good documentation
- and many more other premium features
At the moment I am not fully satisfied with the design, but I think with some smaller changes it fits perfectly.
Here you can see the difference between the old theme and the new one:
So if you have some suggestions what you would change (colour, widgets,…) please let me know.
Enjoy the holidays and a Happy new Year!
